SCORER STATES: "The wound is not a fracture."
1. Put on a field dressing.
a. Uncover the wound unless the clothing is stuck to the wound or chemical environment exists.
b. Apply the casualty's field dressing.
c. Apply manual pressure and elevate the arm or leg to reduce bleeding, if necessary
AFTER CANDIDATE APPLIES MANUAL PRESSURE AND ELEVATES THE INJURY, THE SCORER STATES:
"The wound is still bleeding"
2. Put on a pressure dressing.
a. If bleeding continues after application of the pressure dressing, apply manual pressure and elevation.
b. Perform all necessary steps in the correct sequence in 4 minutes.
SCORER STATES: "The wound is still bleeding."
3. Put on a Tourniquet.
a. Make a tourniquet at least 2 inches wide.
b. Position the tourniquet.
c. Apply the tourniquet
d. Secure the tourniquet.
e. Mark the casualty's forehead with a "T" using a pen, mud, the casualty's blood, or whaterver is available.
SCORER STATES: "The casualty has symptoms of shock."
4. Prevent Shock.
a. Position the casualty.
b. Loosen tight clothing which binds the neck, waist, or other areas unless in a chemical environment.
Scorer asks the candidate what other steps he would perform at this time? The candidate should respond with:
c. Keep the casualty from chilling or overheating.
d. Reassure the casualty.
